Art – Clay

Hello everyone,

In art we have been learning to make clay bowls. It was a really good experience for everyone. The person that taught us how to make the clay bowls was a very intelligent lady called Ch`ristina. Some people where unlucky and theirs broke.

It was a lot of fun doing the clay bowls and I wish we could do it again. I hope you like my bowls.

In the recent weeks we have been making and writing poems. Today I am going to show you how to write my favorite type of poetry a cinquain.

In a limerick you have 5 rows in steps I will teach you how to make a cinquain in 5 steps.

  1. Write your word
  2. Write two adjectives for your word
  3. Write 3 verbs for your your word
  4. Write 4 word in a phrase or 4 felling words
  5. Another word for for your word

Book week

Hello everybody,

Today st Margaret Mary’s celebrated book week. It was really fun and we did lots of activities on books. The main activity was to build a kite because on of the nominated books for book week was Ollie and the wind and it has a kite in it.

If you don’t know what book week is it when you get dressed up as a character from a book and celebrate nominated and excellent books.

This year I dressed as Mr.Bump from the Mr. Men series and My friends Alessandro and Dominic came as  Mr. Clumsy and Mr. Tickle. This is some pictures of us:

In the middle block we did a “bookface” activity. This is were we had to use our book and body to make a good picture.

It was an awesome day and I loved it I wish we could do the day again.

Migration-Over the seas for a home

Hello everybody,


In Inquiry we have been learning about migration. The seniors then had to interview someone in their family who had migrated to Australia then bring the information in.


The person who I interviewed was my aunt Janie.


3 interesting facts were:

  1. My aunts mum got blackmailed by her own mum saying “If you don’t leave one of the kids I will die.” and they left one behind
  2. On the boat there was a fire and my grandma, my aunts sister, got lost and it took an hour to find her.
  3. Most of the English people teased my aunt because her accent


It was a really interacting and we made a power point about it.

Parade college!

Hi guys,

On the 22/7/16 the grade 5 boys at st Margaret Mary´s went to Parade college to see how it is like in year 7. It was really fun and the subjects we got to do were Sport (soccer), Woodwork, library  and Science.

I really liked the way Parade was set out and it was a really good school.

Hey guys,

For our school dance, senior B are doing Bollywood dancing. As two classes, Senior B and Senior R  practiced together and it was really funny. I tried really hard and it worked out superior. But with a bit more practice it will be perfect.

In Bollywood there were some really weird dances but we will get used to them.

Hello everyone,

Welcome back, today I will be talking about goals this term.

I am determined to do these 2 goals, one of them is on learning in class and the other is my class behavior.

1.In writing, Think about the word and how it is spelt so I don’t spell the word wrong. (Learning)

Things I am going to do to achieve these things are

1.Think about what I am writing, look in the dictionary and have special spelling patterns for when I get stuck.

2.Put my hand up and don’t call out as much (Class Behavior)

2.Only say something if the teacher says I can speak when my hand is up and look and listen when other people are talking.

Let’s Investigate

Hello everyone,


In inquiry we have been making science videos. We made these videos to put on the sleek geek website but unfortunately we were too late to put it in.  


The people in my group were Tess, Gautier and Me (Noah). We investigated why do our tongues stick to cold objects and it was a hard to research about it.


Something that I was proud of is that I worked well with my group and that our information and video was great. In the end we got a 14 ½ out of 20 and we were one of the only groups that got a score that high. We did lots of waiting and it was a long process but we got good result and that all that matters, having a good video and result.


I think if we could do something better it would have been redoing the sound because their were some bits that were a bit too soft and some was a bit too loud so I think we should focus on the sound a bit more next time.


We got feedback from the teachers and another group and they both said you should have better sound and I agreed on that. One good thing from the feedback was that we used our props really well and that we had a great script.

Cross Multiplying

Hello everyone,

In maths we have been doing cross multiplying. It is a strategy for when your compering fractions.

There is 3 steps to this strategy:

  1. Times the top number of the first fraction to the bottom number of the second fraction and put the number next to the first number.
  2. Times the top number of the second fraction to the bottom number of the first fraction and put the number next to the second number.
  3. Compare the numbers and then you will have the biggest fraction.
